Meadowlands (1996)

Meadowlands #3

11 black-and-white, silver-gelatin photographs printed from large-format negatives, each depicting artificial objects in relation to the natural elements of the famous New Jersey Meadowlands. Inspired by Robert Smithson’s Monuments of Passaic (1967), the images consider the depicted objects as monuments, not to past glory, but to future entropy. However, in contrast to Smithson’s instamatic snapshots, they depict in a highly aestheticized way.
